Email subscriptions

Premium feature. Let readers subscribe to your blog and receive your posts by email.

Enabling email subscriptions

  1. Go to SettingsAudience
  2. Check Email subscriptions enabled
  3. Click Update

Delivery modes

There are two ways to deliver posts to your subscribers:

Weekly Digest (default)

Subscribers receive a roundup of your latest posts every Tuesday morning (in your blog's configured time zone). This happens automatically – you don't need to do anything.

Individual

You choose which posts to send, one at a time, whenever you like. When individual mode is enabled, published posts show a banner in the post editor with a Send to subscribers button. After sending, the banner updates to show the delivery date and subscriber count.

Before sending for real, you can use Send a test email to preview the email in your own inbox first.

Posts you send individually are automatically excluded from future weekly digests, so subscribers never receive the same post twice.

Switching modes

To change your delivery mode, go to SettingsAudience and pick between Weekly Digest and Individual under the email subscriptions checkbox. You can switch at any time. If you switch from individual back to weekly digest, the next Tuesday digest will include any posts that haven't been sent yet.

Email subject lines

Individual emails use the post title as the subject line, or "New post from [your blog title] – [date]" if the post has no title. Weekly digest emails always use "New posts from [your blog title]".

Displaying the subscription form

You can show the subscription form in two places:

  • Blog header – Appears at the top of your home page
  • Post footer – Appears at the bottom of individual posts

Enable either or both options in the Audience settings.

You can also embed the form on any page using the {{ email_subscription }} dynamic variable.

Viewing your subscribers

Go to SettingsAudience to see how many confirmed subscribers you have. For privacy reasons there's no option to view or download your list of subscribers. If you want to migrate elsewhere, submit a support ticket for an export.

Subscriber limits

The current limits are:

  • Premium accounts include 250 email subscribers
  • Pro accounts ($99/year) include 2,000 subscribers
